Times are tough. More than six months after the Russian aggression against Ukraine began, UN experts warn that the current affordability crisis and high fertilizer prices could reduce global grain production by as much as 40%. This, in turn, could lead to a severe food crisis that will have a great effect on the whole market.

The winter is coming and both governments and businesses are fighting to be prepared for the worst. From the current perspective, it seems almost certain that European societies and enterprises will have to deal with both sky-rocketing energy prices and power outages. France urges citizens to carpool and reduce home heating, and private businesses to turn off lighted signs overnight. Major government investments are underway in many countries to ensure energy security in the coming months. Nonetheless, many experts fear that the situation could get out of hand one way or another.

Additives’ market is constantly changing and there is a lot going on. Geopolitical situation connected with the war on Ukraine is bringing plenty of new circumstances to the table. Western companies are still looking for best solutions after leaving Russia or being put into the position in which their partners do not want to cooperate with Russia. At the same time, Russian companies are taking over their own internal market by fulfilling niches left by the foreign capital.

Experts suggest that the current crisis will permanently change the dairy market. It is very likely that the upcoming year will be the time of the fittest for many dairy businesses. The present situation in the global market is complex: some producers are going green, others are successfully expanding with the help of funds, while some businesses and consumers are deeply affected by soaring inflation.

The conditions of crops throughout Europe seem to vary. In Poland, a non-governmental organization called the Grain and Feed Association, shared an overview on the harvests of staple crops. According to the statistics, the country’s grain exports in the entire 2021/22 season amounted to more than 7 862 000 tons compared to 9 088 000 tons in the previous season.
