Ukrainian Pea Production
The Ukrainian pea exports in MY 2019/20 were down by 36%. The export accelerated in 20/21, but still, the numbers are weak. It is mainly caused by tariffs imposed by India, which is the major importer on the pea market. The undergoing talks with China may change the situation. The decision might take place in Q1 2021.

Global pea market

The global pea production is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 5.9% during the forecast period (2019-2024). The variety of peas (among other green, yellow, maple) are grown in colder climatic regions such as Europe and North America. Most of the US and Canada production (more than 75%) is exported to China and India. Those are the fast-developing regions that drive the growth of the pea market.

As for Europe, there are many producing countries – mainly France, where the annual growth is at the rate of 8.1%. It was Rouquette Freres, a French company, that signed a multi-year partnership with Beyond Meat concerning the supply of pea protein.
