Sodium Hypochlorite has a characteristic chlorine odor. It has a straw-yellow or yellow-green color. Sodium Hypochlorite is produced industrially by electrolysis of brine, which produces sodium hydroxide and chlorine. The chlorine then reacts with the hydroxide to form Sodium Hypochlorite and sodium chloride.
Sodium Hypochlorite has oxidizing, corrosive, antiseptic and bactericidal properties. In its pure form, this compound is very unstable, so only its aqueous solution is sold or used.

Application
